Technology - a friend or an enemy?

We live in a very exciting era as technology has influenced our lives to a great extent. This change  inevitably brings us some serious issues to face that are political, ecological and ethical. It made our lives more easy, we communicate without any problem with people around the world just with one click on our computers.


We won't be able to live without our technology because we already got used to it too much. It's not possible for the humanity to get back to our state before the technological advancements, though there are some people who try to lead a tech-free life.

How much technology has changed our lives?  For better or worse the changes are ground-breaking and they will continue. We all know that the use of technology has its good and bad sides. But can we determine whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages or is the opposite? Let's consider first its possitive impact on us:

1. It has changed our lives:

No one can deny that without the modern home appliances, our lives will be much harder. The machines from our daily lives give us free time for ourselves and have so much become a natural part of our lives that we are not aware of them. Sometimes we just cannot we imagine how the people from the previous decades lived. So we should to be thankful to all these smart inventors of the past that created all of the things that help us now. 

2. It brings us closer:

Our society  has never been more connected than now. We can communicate with whoever we want from every corner of the world and keep old connections with friends. We are no longer separated by the huge distances. Technology give us a sense of community. On the other hand we may feel  lonely and lose the human connection and presense at the same time if we use it too much for communication. Did you ever happen to you when hanging out with a company of friends and the conversation is no longer interesting for you and you resort to the social media as a source of entertainment. It's said for me to see a group of kids being together and looking at their phones or tablets.

3. It makes us healthy:

This health topic about whether or not we are healthier than before always raises disputes. For instance, with the help of the new technologic inovations such as fitness trackers, it's easy to be fit. But we cannot omit the truth, the advancement of technology saves more lives and creates medicine that keep us alive and cures disease whose only result was death in the past. Moreover, it has let  people with disabilities to live normal lives with the help of bionic body parts and has made the serious surgeries not to be a matter of life or death.

4. It makes us smart:

This is one of my favourite positive impacts of technology. It has never been more easy to search for information than now. The amount of information that today's children are attacked with is incomparable with that which the children in the past received. But the question is whether they become smarter in this way or more lazy? I think that it depends and it's a matter of personal choice. Everyone is different and remembers info in a different way. We have endless source of information at our fingertips - the internet. It is up to us whether we will make use of this information. There is a possibility that when we have an easy access to the information we don't bother to remember it. The web is thinking for us. Also, children and adults more and more use computers or tablets for typing in schools, universities and in day-to-day needs. I wonder if this will make us forget how to write? The  people that scribble notes (like myself) are becoming fewer and probably the next generation will use only the keyboard.

What about the world's poorest population? We cannot skip the fact that  technology costs money is still not accessible to all of us. If we cannot afford some of the latest technological products what we should do? Is it possible to buy a computer or laptop on a budget for example? Yes, it is. It has to enable us to be more successful in every sphere of our lives and live a more fulfilling life.
