Effective study tips that make studying less scary

I have always admired the people with a sharp memory and wondered how they do it. It's true that we all learn in a different way and the educational system is most of the times unjust by teaching all kids using same methods. So, it's no wonder that some kids don't go to universities and some even don't make it to the 12th grade.

The thing is that the old teaching methods  most teachers are using are not able to induce much interest in the kids towards studying. They don't feel motivated to learn and most of the students consider  studying a tedious and boring activity. This counts even for the grown-ups. Studying can be boring even to the excellent students. I am personally from the people that are not excellent in memorization and forget the things, which I don't regularly repeat.

But why some people are successful in learning new things, and other wince at the idea of studying? Perhaps the successful learners are more motivated to learn and think about the future results they will get when they manage to do excellently. Or they just tend to be perfectionists. Some people learn more easily because they probably have more effective studying strategies. I will list some helpful tips that are helpful to me and I hope they will be useful to you too:

1. Organize

The less we are distracted while studying, the better. If we want to get focused, we need to have a neat environment. We can make even a special study nook for us according to our taste that is free of distractions, for example if we are too distracted in our home or we are living in a dormitory.

2. Add colour

Some of us are visual creatures and see the world in a colourful way. I am such a person and remember better when I underline the text with a colour pen and get help from illustrations or tables. So, stoke up on those colourful  pencil and markers and colour your important info.

3. Take a break

We are all human beings and we need a break from time to time. Breaks help us relax and be concentrated after them more. When we are tired we cannot focus properly, and in this way we are just wasting our time. You can set an interval timer to help yourself determine your study and rest time period more exactly.

4. Avoid distractions

The less distractions you have, the better. Set a spot in your living place only for yourself, where you will be mostly focused. You may have to turn off  your smartphone or computer, if you are not using it for the purpose of studying. Just make sure that no one will interrupt you while you study.

5. Repetition is essential

As the saying goes "Practice makes perfect". Most of you probably have already heard that many times but how many of us actually do it. You can invite a friend to help you and examine you on the material. When you have someone acting as a "teacher" this will help you memorize the information even better.

6. Use your notes

If you are not a note-making person, then you should become one, because this method helps you to memorize more. By making notes, you can sumarize the main points of the material that you have to learn and understand them more properly as you wrote them in your writing style. You can make your own tables or diagrams, if this helps you memorize easy.

7. Feed your brain

In order to be concentrated and effective in your studying, you need to give your brain the proper nutrients. Try to eat every day brain-boosting foods such as dark chocolate, nuts, fish, eggs, green leafy vegetables, blueberries and drinks like green tea and coffee. Our brain is made of 73-78% water so don't forget to drink enough to stay hydrated. And also sleep is a must. If you are sleep-deprivated, you will not be very good at memorizing new information.

Last but not least, everyone is different and memorizes in a diferent way, so find your own style. Realize what method really helps you while you study. So, learning can become more pleasant, if you make it such.
